Insight Team Gathering at the Hope Center

This month, Insight Housing staff gathered in downtown Berkeley at the Hope Center to celebrate another year of providing services and stable housing to our neighbors. We celebrated the continuation of our family program in Sacramento, our innovative partnership with Cardea Health at our first project in Oakland, and the success of our recent Community Champions Dinner fundraiser.

We also talked about the next steps for our Lived Experience Advisory Panel (LEAP), comprised of current and past Insight Housing participants who will share their expertise and leadership as we continue to grow and improve our programs. Insight Housing at National Coalition for Homeless Veterans Conference

This month, Insight Housing was proud to attend the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans conference in Washington, D.C. Representing Insight were Angela Upshaw, Chief Program Officer, and Nichelle Carter, Program Manager for our Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program (HVRP). During the conference, Nichelle presented on the important role employment can play as a pathway to housing stability for Veterans experiencing housing insecurity. We are honored to have Insight represented at the national level as part of the ongoing effort to end Veteran homelessness and strengthen support systems for our communities.

 MLK House Renovation

We are excited to share that the construction on the renovation should begin in June. Once completed, MLK House will become the nation’s first Veteran-specific Board and Care facility, featuring 11 units for Veterans with on-site staff providing wraparound services and support. The Board and Care housing model supports individuals who have serious mental health diagnoses and will serve some of the most vulnerable members of our community. We look forward to sharing updates on the renovation and reconstruction of this important space!

 Support Neighbors Finding Safe and Stable Housing

We’ve officially launched our latest fundraising appeal with a goal of raising $40,000 by the end of June! Every day, we see the impact that housing and compassionate care can have, from Veterans moving indoors, to families finding safety in shelter, to seniors getting the support they need to stay housed. As the need for housing services continues to grow across our communities, every donation helps us continue this work and help more people find safe and stable housing.
